TÜBA Full Member Soylak Explained “Green Chemistry and Its Applications” at Our University
Our University Salt Therapy Application and Research Center Director Dr. Lecturer Tekin Sancar attended the “Green Chemistry and Applications” conference where TÜBA member Prof. Dr. Mustafa Soylak participated as a speaker.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakkı Alma, Aralık District Governor Muhammet Fatih Aydın, vice rectors, academic and administrative staff and students attended the conference held at the Karaağaç Campus July 15 Martyrs Conference Hall.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakkı Alma, who made the opening speech of the program, provided information about the founding purpose, activities and scientific contributions of the Turkish Academy of Sciences.
Rector Alma also emphasized TÜBA's mission to support scientific research in our country, bring scientists together and encourage scientific collaborations in the international arena.
Rector Alma, who continued his words by touching on the importance of the conference and drawing attention to the future role of green chemistry and environmentally friendly practices, said, "Sustainability forms the basis of our education and research activities. Every new study to be conducted in the field of green chemistry will be a big step both in protecting our environment and in looking after human health. In this sense, I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Mustafa Soylak for sharing his valuable knowledge with us."
Speaking within the scope of the program, Prof. Dr. Soylak shared valuable information about the importance of green chemistry and its environmentally friendly applications and provided information to the participants about the reflections of sustainable chemistry applications in science and industry.
Prof. Dr. Soylak said in his speech, “Green (Sustainable) Chemistry is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce and eliminate the use or formation of hazardous substances. Green chemistry is valid throughout the life cycle of a chemical product, including its design, production, use and final disposal. In addition, the green world is an approach that aims to reduce harmful substances and develop environmentally friendly products. These principles are of great importance in terms of health, environment and sustainability. Green chemistry prevents pollution at the molecular level. It is not the only discipline of chemistry, but a philosophy that applies to all areas of chemistry and other forms of life. It applies innovative scientific solutions to real-world environmental problems. Green chemistry also reduces the negative effects of chemical products and processes on human health and the environment.”
The conference continued with a question and answer session and ended after the presentation of gifts and a photo shoot.
Following the program, our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Hakkı Alma and his guests inspected the units in the Karaağaç Campus.
